Specimen hunting
The largest carp caught so far has been 23lbs in 2007. Estimates put our six largest mirrors in the 21lb-25lb bracket and so far five remain uncaught.
The best perch so far was 4lbs 4oz caught in September 2003. This was probably one of six large fish we stocked around 1997.A specimen roach of 2lbs 8oz was landed in 2005, in 2008 the largest specimen was 2lbs 2oz.
The biggest rudd caught so far was 1lb 9oz in October 2007.
A crucian of 3lbs 9oz was landed in 2009. in 2010 so far we have had two different fish landed that were over three pounds.
We have a large head of both koi and ghost carp in the lake, both of these are being caught regularly and have been landed up to 15lbs so far. Although some of our koi are now estimated to be over 23lbs and remain uncaught.
We stocked 450 tench in the lake in 2002 which are thriving. These provide good sport to pleasure anglers with fish from 2lb to 4lb. Originally we also stocked fifty tench when we first dug the lake. Some of these fish are now over six pounds.
In May 2009 we stocked a further 1000 carp from three quarters of a pound to one and a half pounds. These are now running up to two and a half pounds.
We do not allow night fishing at present although we will review this at a later date
