New swims...
01/09/09
During the last week of August we have created two new swims at the east end of the fishery. We have taken out a lot of the Norfolk reed in the corner and dug out two new areas alongside it. This has resulted in a new island/feature for the carp to feed round as well.We are also digging three new swims plus creating a new island on the north side of the fishery. This should see us now having over 27 swims - some of which two or even three people can fish from comfortably.
The northside swims will also have a reasonable depth around four to six feet. This will give the fish a new deep water area to head for in the winter months. The new island has mature silver birch trees on it already. So we think this will blend in quite quickly. We are fairly sure that this new island will attract a number of carp to it straight away, as one side already has a large silty area. We have already established a large lily pad on the south side of the island - so catches here should be fairly consistent too.
